THE annual Kelty ceremony in memory of the miners, who lost their lives in the Lindsay Colliery Disaster, in 1957, was held on Friday at the new Community Centre.
It was the first time the service had been held at the new Community Centre after its opening in May.
Reverend Hugh Steele and Hank John led ex-miners and their families and members of the community in a service of remembrance.
Tributes were paid by Councillors Alex Campbell and Mary Lockhart to the miners who lost their lives in the 1957 disaster and to all miners who have died working in the coal industry.
Alex Rowley MSP reminded the gathering how important the collieries were in shaping communities in central Scotland and hope important it was in Kelty developing as a community.
Wreaths were laid on the miners statue on behalf of The Retired Miners, Fife Council, Kelty Community Council, Alex Rowley, The Kelty Heritage Group, St Josephs RC Church and members of the public.
