A SPEED cushion placed in Hill Road, Ballingry, did more than kill the speed of motorists.
The cushion, placed near the Benarty Square shopping precinct, caused such havoc for motorists, Fife Council received a torrent of complaints from drivers.
And last week the local authority’s roads department is to reduce the height of the cushion.
Said Lochs councillor Willie Clarke, “Cushions have been placed on Hill Road to calm traffic passing St Kenneth’s Primary School and the shopping area and while the one further up the street at the school is fine, there have been a list of complaints about the effects of the one near Benarty Square.
“Cars and buses have been having trouble negotiating the speed bump with drivers talking of exhaust systems being scraped trying to get over it.
“The roads people have looked at it and immediately informed me that they are going to reduce the height of it.” Councillor Clarke added, “I thought that these cushions would be all of a statutory height so it would appear the one near the shopping area is a rogue speed bump. Very unusual indeed.”
