FORMED in 2016, Equali Trombones is comprised of four of Scotland’s most experienced musicians and they are at Dunfermline's Carnegie Hall on Sunday February 9.
Marion Brackpool gained a MacFarlane scholarship to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, winning the Governors’ Recital Prize for Brass.
She has spent over thirty years as an instrumental teacher and tutor to bands and orchestras.
Ross Bahlaj, from Lochgelly, studied music performance and composition at Glasgow University. Outside of the university he has played with many brass bands, winds bands, big bands and orchestras.
Born in Wallasey, Merseyside, John became Principal Bass Trombone of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and moved to Glasgow after studying at the Royal College of Music. Since leaving the Orchestra in 1976, he has had a varied career including being a freelance musician, a brass teacher and even a fishing charter skipper!
Ronnie MacNiven studied trombone and composition at The Royal Academy of Music in London. He has since held several positions with ensembles around the world including The National Chamber Orchestra of South Africa and The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra.
Their programme will include: Come Let's Rejoice, Suite for Four Trombones and Vexilla Regis.
