PANTOMIME season – oh yes it is – is almost upon us and Cowdenbeath Community Theatre have a festive treat lined up next month.

As the build-up to Santa's arrival continues, Robin Hood and his merry men will take to the Lochgelly Centre stage for this year's production of 'Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood'.

The show was last performed by an early incarnation of the community theatre 20 years ago and, in a link to that performance, this year's director, Lynsey Combe, enjoyed a starring role as Maid Marion at the age of just 15!

This year's production has been written by Peter Denyer, who is perhaps best known for playing Dennis Dunstable in the TV series 'Please Sir!', and who has also appeared in 'Dixon of Dock Green' and the long-running ITV soap Emmerdale.

Following usual tradition, Robin Hood is the hero of the hour as he rescues Janet and Jane, the 'Babes', from the evil clutches of the Sheriff of Nottingham, while the romantic interest is provided by Maid Marion, the Sheriff's ward, who provides the link between life in Nottingham Castle and the Merry Men's lair in the Greenwood.

The opening performance takes place on Wednesday December 4 at 7.15pm, and runs until Saturday December 7 nightly, while there's also a 2.15pm matinee performance on the latter date.

Tickets, which cost £12 for adults and £10 for concessions, can be bought in person at any OnFife box office, or online where a booking fee applies, at www.onfife.com.
