KELTY Musical Association have been hard at work rehearsing to present the Fife premiere of Chicago and we have a pair of tickets up for grabs for the opening night of Wednesday May 1 at Dunfermline's Carnegie Hall.

With a thumping vaudeville inspired score by Kander and Ebb, most folk will know the famous movie starring Catherine Zeta Jones, Renee Zellweger and Richard Gere, which won the Best Film Oscar in 2002.

Chicago holds the record as the longest running American musical in Broadway history so you can imagine the excitement when the company discovered it was finally available for them to perform.

Featuring the biggest line up of dancers in years, this show is certain to “Razzle Dazzle” audiences as it tells the story of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, two notorious Jazz Age murderesses imprisoned in Cook County jail, presided over by the scheming Mama Morton, who is almost as corrupt as her inmates.

The auditions attracted people from all over Scotland and all three principal female roles are played by people making their Kelty Musical debut, namely Amy Elder, Vicky Sharp and Rebecca Anderson. Kelty favourites, Mark Grieve and Darren Johnson return as slick suited lawyer Billy Flynn and Roxie’s downtrodden husband Amos.

While Derek Walker, who last appeared in Kelty’s “Singin’ In The Rain”, returns after many years in a most surprising role!

Set in the 1920s, the show explores the relationship between crime and fame, with wonderful numbers such as All That Jazz and the Cell Block Tango. The original show was co-written and choreographed by the famed Bob Fosse and the entire company and production team have enjoyed being given the opportunity to present this fabulous show to a local audience.

The show runs in the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline from Wednesday 1st to Saturday 4th May at 7.15pm nightly plus a 2.15pm Saturday matinee. Tickets are available from the Carnegie Hall Box Office on 01383 602302, priced £15/£13.
