DIRECTED by Joe Wright and starring Gary Oldman, Lily James and Kristin Scott Thomas, The Darkest Hour hits the screen at The Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy, on June 28.

Winning Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role at the Oscars, Gary Oldman’s portrayal of the late British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was a further high-point in the awards season.

The fate of Western Europe hangs on the Prime Minister’s actions, who must choose whether to negotiate with Adolf Hitler or fight on.

Times are tough in early 1940 but Winston has to balance up so many things.

The last thing he wants to do in his own mind is not continue the fight though and he has to persuade his colleagues to follow him and at the same time look to keep the support building from across the Atlantic.

Tough times and can he do it?
