TAKING a bow are the Emerald Group who are a key element of the cast of Lochgelly and District Musical Association's 2018 production of the Wizard of Oz.

The show takes to the stage of Lochgelly Centre theatre on Tuesday May 29 and runs until Saturday June 2 and includes a matinee performance on the last day.

Amazingly there will be 60 youngsters in the Oz cast as director Margaret Paul celebrates her 60th year with LADAMA!

Margaret is delighted to have such a young and enthusiastic cast under her umbrella this year and she is really looking forward to putting this excellent show on this year.

Margaret will be teaming up with musical director Suzanne Stewart, who has been in that role since 2009 while choreographer is Jackie Wilson, herself a successful dancer who has taken up the challenge of getting the dance team just right for this spectacular show.

The Wizard of Oz 2018 Lochgelly style comes from a 1939 American musical fantasy film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Widely considered to be one of the greatest films in cinema history, it was the best-known and most commercially successful adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Legendary for its use of Technicolor, fantasy storytelling, musical score, and memorable characters, it became an icon of American popular culture.

So this has all the making of one of LADAMA's most memorable shows.

Said Association president, Bill Paul: "It has been amazing how the young people have taken to this show.

"We needed an influx of youngsters but were amazed at the numbers wishing to be part of this production.

"We now have three teams called the Rubies, who will perform on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights, and the Emeralds (pictured) who will be on stage on Wednesday and Friday nights and in Saturday's matinee and the older ones, the Jitterbugs, who will appear in every show.

"It really is brilliant to have so many talented young people involved in this great show."

Tickets are £13 (£11 concessions) which are available from the Box Office on 01592 780723, www.onfife.com and the Lochgelly Centre or any member.
