ON Saturday July the culmination of a lot of work on perfecting orchestra techniques will come to fruition at Dunfermline's Carnegie Hall.
At 2:45 the Scottish Schools Orchestra Trust’s annual residential course culminates in a fantastic concert which showcases the talent of young people.
The concert features orchestral music performed by youngsters aged 9 to 15, in a variety of different groups conducted by Matthew Rowe, Susan Dingle, Robin Wedderburn and James Chamberlain.
“A fascinating insight into the potential of youth” was how the Times' sister paper The Herald described this venture.
SScOT's residential activity holiday will take place from Monday July 10 until Saturday July 15 at Queen Victoria School, in Dunblane, with the final concerts at the Carnegie Hall is for children and teenagers aged 9 to 15 who play an orchestral or band instrument at a level of grade 2 to grade 8 or above. There are no auditions, the aim being to challenge each person at a suitable level, and to build on their motivation and enthusiasm.
