THE competition is heating up for Fife’s foremost poetry slam!

Do you long for the power of a microphone in your hand? Do you dream of an audience hanging on your every word? If the answer to either of these questions is ‘yes’, then you definitely need to enter Slam Factor Fife 2014, held at Kirkcaldy Galleries on Thursday 2nd October! Fife Cultural Trust will be playing host to our finest wordsmiths at Slam Factor Fife 2014, Fife’s foremost poetry slam! A poetry slam turns a poet into a true performance artiste. With only three minutes to make your mark, you’d better make the most of every second! The panel of Slam Factor judges, the people you’ll need to impress, are Miko Berry, Kevin Cadwallender and Rachel McCrum, all experienced slammers in their own right.

Points are awarded for content, delivery and star quality, in whatever form it appears! The person with what is probably the hardest job on the night is Andrew C Ferguson – the master of ceremonies, who is tasked with maintaining order and ensuring fair play. Things can get a little rowdy at a poetry slam!

Yvonne Melville, Libraries Service Development Team Leader, said, “We were delighted by the response we received from last year’s slam. The performances by our entrants were all very different, and all very entertaining. It is also very exciting to be welcoming our judges to Fife, including the Scottish Slam Champion Miko Berry, all of whom will also be performing on the night.” If you are ready to compete and have some serious fun at Slam Factor Fife 2014, you can pick up an entry form at any Fife library. The entry fee is £2.

The slam kicks off at 7.30pm on Thursday 2nd October at Kirkcaldy Galleries. If you are performing, you should be at the venue for 7.15pm.
