ONE of Scotland’s foremost family history events, Fife Family History Fair, represents a wonderful opportunity to unearth the secret past of your family, and to be a part of Kingdom’s fascinating First World War story.

At Rothes Halls, in Glenrothes, on Saturday 20th September, a number of experts and guest speakers will aid you in uncovering the military history of your family, as part of a broader poignant tapestry of the WW1 story in Fife.

Highly respected guest speakers at the event include Sarah Paterson, from the Imperial War Museum, Yvonne McEwen and Garry Ketchen from the Scotland’s War Project, and David Potter, author of Kirkcaldy and the First World War.

There will also be over 30 organisations to host information stalls to help with your search, from the Black Watch Castle & Museum and the Scottish Genealogy Society to the Fife Family History Society and the Kirkcaldy Civic Society. Finally, there will be the chance to visit MAC, Fife’s Mobile Museum, to view its wonderful WW1 exhibition.

“The Fife Family History Fair is one of Scotland’s premier family history events and well worth a visit for anyone researching this period. Everyone alive in Scotland at that time was affected and their stories still echo down the years,” says Jill Lewis, Local Studies Officer.

The Fife Family History Fair is on 20th September, 9am to 5pm at Rothes Halls, Glenrothes. Day tickets are £20, while exhibition only tickets are £3. Accompanying Children go free.
