THE Alhambra Theatre, in Dunfermline, is pleased to announce the launch of the Alhambra Theatre Stage School, with the first term commencing on Saturday 30th August.

The Theatre Stage School will offer children and young adults, aged between 6 and 18, the chance to learn skills in acting, singing and dancing, and earn qualifications, taught by fully qualified theatre industry professionals.

The Theatre School first term will run from Saturday 30th August until Saturday 6th December, running from 2.30pm until 5.30pm every Saturday during school term time.

Claire Fletcher, PR Manager for the Alhambra commented, “It has been a long held ambition of the Alhambra Theatre Trust to launch the Alhambra Theatre Stage School.

“The Stage School will give fantastic experience to children and young adults with an interest in theatre and performing arts. The success of the annual Summer School experience has been hugely rewarding for all at the theatre, and we are delighted to be expanding on that process.’ The launch of the Alhambra Theatre Stage School follows on from the third Alhambra Theatre Summer School, which had 122 children, aged between 8 and 18 taking part in July and August, performing excerpts from musicals such as Evita, Wicked, Annie and Mary Poppins.

The Summer School has grown successfully year on year with participant numbers increasing by 100% from 2012, when the first Summer School ran.

Gavin Dickson, Producer for the Alhambra Theatre Stage School added, “I am really excited to announce the launch of the Stage School, offering full professional training, where participants will learn vocal technique, acting and dancing taught by fully qualified professionals.

“The children will gain confidence, learning key skills with the chance to study for qualifications, appear on stage, and at the same time making new friends. I am thrilled to be part of the continued success of the Alhambra Theatre, and encouraging local young people participating in theatre and the arts”
