COWDEN manager Colin Nish was delighted with the way his players reacted to their first day back in training at the weekend.
He took his squad to the special indoor facility at Dunfermline’s Pitreavie Playing Fields where they underwent a number of fitness tests.
He said, “The lads showed a really good level of overall fitness after the break and we will be stepping up our work this week.
“We have our first game against Kelty Hearts on Thursday 9th against Kelty Hearts and when we will start to build up our match fitness.” By Tuesday he was still waiting for a venue for the Kelty match as the Hearts are waiting for a start to the refurbishment of their Central Park pitch.
And at the weekend it was announced that the match against Darlington, scheduled for Saturday 18th, has been replaced by a game with Lowland League champions Edinburgh City who will come to Central Park for a 3pm start.
Meanwhile the manager is still looking to increase his squad after fixing up youth signing, young goalscorer Cameron Muirhead, from the Fife Youth Academy.
Said Mr Nish, “Cameron is a good young player with an eye for a goal and we will bring him into our plans over the four friendlies we have arranged.
“Meanwhile I am still looking around for a goalkeeper and three or four outfield players to make up the squad but I will not be rushing anything as it is quality not quantity we are seeking.”
