COWDENBEATH head for Falkirk on Saturday looking to make it four undefeated Championship games in a row.

Two wins and a draw have taken the Blues away from the bottom two slots in the table with their eight points putting them one ahead of Alloa and level with Livingston with a game more played.

The Bairns are only two ahead of Cowden so it is another big game for the Central Parkers.

Manager Jimmy Nicholl was delighted with the way his charges took the Alloa challenge on at the weekend and also with the way they handled the tense closing moments after the Wasps had pulled one back late on.

“It was a very important game and the lads responded very well and when they came back strongly at us and we defended very well,” he said, “We played some great stuff to get 3-1 up and were defending solidly, but credit to Alloa they came back at us and got a goal with just under quarter of an hour to go which put a bit of pressure on us.

“However, the lads did very well and ensured that there was little space for them to work with and it was a good win.

“The result has got us out of the bottom three for the first time since early season but no one is getting carried away.

“We know that there is still a lot of hard work coming up starting at Falkirk on Saturday.” He added, “The Bairns have had an up and down start but they will be looking to get their show back on the road so we will have to ensure we keep up the good aspects of our play over the past three games.

“We showed in the first league game at Central Park and in the League Cup-tie at Falkirk that we can compete with them and we need a repeat of these performances on Saturday.” Cowden put on a good performance at Falkirk in the League Cup losing only on penalties. The manager is unlikely to make many if any changes in the team which has carved out the results which have taken the club into a safer area of the Championship table.

He has also fixed up another player in the shape of midfielder Colin Marshall, who has joined after playing abroad and he went straight into the squad at Alloa.

Most of the injury victims are now available, although John Armstrong is some weeks away from being ready while Sammy Stewart is still working up to being fully fit.
