COWDEN skipper Jon Robertson will be leaving the club at the end of the season whether club wins promotion or not.

Former Cowdenbeath boss Danny lennon has again raided Central Park by persuading Robbo to sign a pre-contract agreement which will see him join St Mirren in the summer.

The club issued a statement on Tuesday paying tribute to the midfielder.

It stated, "Following Monday night's board meeting at Central Park, the Board of Cowdenbeath FC can now confirm that St Mirren FC advised CFC of their intention to discuss a PCA (Pre-Contract Agreement) arrangement with club captain Jon Robertson.

" We understand that Jon has committed to entering into a PCA with St Mirren FC.

"It is naturally a disappointment that Jon will not be at our club next season but we are genuinely delighted that he will now be able to realise his ambition of playing full-time football in the SPL.

"Jon has contributed so much in five exciting years at Central Park and has been an excellent servant to the club.

"He will leave in due course with the best wishes of all at Central Park and we believe he will, indeed , go on to enjoy further success in his future footballing career.

" In the meantime, it is business as usual at Central Park and we look forward to Jon continuing to lead by example as we strive for success this season at Central Park".

Robertson has been a stalwart this season as Cowden hit the top of the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division.

But his outstanding performances have drawn the attention of scouts and it is no surprise that Mr Lennon, who managed him while at Cowden, has made this move.
