AFTER the slip-up at Forfar Cowdenbeath must deal with Albion Rovers at Central Park this Saturday. Arbroath took the chance provided by Cowden's defeat to close the gap at the top of the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division to just five points, with the Fifers having played a game more.
Indeed, the Lichties slammed six past Cowden's opponents this weekend so the Blue Brazil really cannot afford to make any mistakes at Central Park.
While Cowdenbeath produced some pretty good stuff, from an outfield point of view at Station Park, they let themselves down in the finishing part of the game. Player/manager Colin Cameron felt his side had done enough to take something from the game although he recognised the finishing was off target on the day. He said this week, "We created some very good chances and could well have won the game but we took the wrong option too often in the last third of the pitch.
"We lacked the clinical touch for once which was a real disappointment but we will bounce back from this set-back. The last time we lost a league game we went on an eight game unbeaten run and that is the response I will be asking from the lads after the Forfar defeat."
The manager wants that to start this Saturday but he is wary of Albion after their six goal pasting at Gayfield.
"They will be hurting after that result but they were in action on Tuesday against East Fife and I will be looking at that game and deciding on how we should line-up against Rovers," added Mr Cameron, who has picked up a medial injury which will keep him out for a couple of weeks at least.
Mark Ramsay took a knee on the thigh but he should be back in action this Saturday although Kenny Adamson is still struggling with his hamstring injury. "The players are determined to get back on the winning trail and that is the target this weekend," he added, "I will definitely be out this Saturday but Mark will be OK although Kenny is also very doubtful."
Craig Winter would most likely come into the midfield if the player/boss is out while Scott Linton could move forward and a change made at full-back.
