Cowden boss praises players after collecting second award
COWDENBEATH boss Colin Cameron has been chosen as the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division's manager of the month for the second time in twelve weeks.
Having received the award for his team's performances in September, the player/manager has ensured his side has kept up the momentum in November and the results which sees Cowden in the top two positions in the table, have gained him his second accolade of the season.
The player/boss engineered wins over East Fife and Stenhousemuir in November plus a draw with Dumbarton and amidst all that the Blue Brazil beat Boness United in the third round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
But he was quick to point out that it was the players who had won the award for him,
Said Mr Cameron, "November was a good month for us but it was all down to the hard work put in by the lads in training and out there on the park.
"Yes I played my part in the team but I have nothing but praise for the way the players have adapted to some very difficult fixtures.
"There are no easy games in the Second Division but we have kept picking up wins steadily and along with Arbroath and Stenhousemuir, we have moved away from the rest of the pack.
"There is still a very long way to go and we will have to be at our best every week if we want to win enough points to take the title. But that is our target and while there will be difficult days ahead we have to be confident that we can achieve our aim."
Cowden hope to get their league campaign back in action this coming Monday as they travel to Stenhousemuir, after their enforced lay-off with the Stirling postponement.
The manager was very disappointed that the match was called off. He said, "I was on the park and to my mind, although there were a couple of small areas which were a little firm, in general I felt it was very playable.
"I suppose that with three of the other games called off we did not lose anything through the postponement other than the momentum we have built up over the past few weeks."
Mr Cameron is looking or his men to play a lot better this Saturday than the performance back in September when Stenny won 3-1, one of only two defeats suffered by the Blues.
He said, "This is a very important game, with Stenhousemuir in third top spot. We did not play well at Ochilview the last time we were through there and we will be going all out to put that right this time.
"Hopefully there will be a big holiday crowd and a good atmosphere."
The Blue Brazil will have a full squad to pick from which will mean David Cowan has recovered from the knock he received against Arbroath and Thomas O'Brien is showing no signs of any reaction to his thigh injury.
