COWDENBEATH boss Danny Lennon has already started piecing together his squad for next season in the Barrs Irn Bru First Division.
The manager wasted no time after the club clinched its spot in the second tier in getting down to discussions with key men who were out of contract.
He has fixed up eight men who have bound to have caught the eye of other clubs as the season unfolded.
Goalkeeper David Hay, young midfielders Jon Robertson and Danny Mackay and defenders John Armstrong and Scott Linton had signed new contracts previous to the end of the season. But last midweek he managed to fix up top scorer Gareth Wardlaw, midfielders Brian Fairbairn, Mark Ramsay and Craig Winter and defenders Joe Mbu, Mark Baxter and Kenny Adamson.
All eight played a significant part in the promotion campaign and fans will be delighted that they have resigned. Baxter spent half of the season on the injured list but returned in the run-in to play 21 games while Winter, who signed last August from Forfar Athletic, was very influential in the closing stages of the league programme.
Fairbairn and Ramsay provide much needed width to the squad while Adamson can operate in defence or midfield.
The manager was delighted that the players put open to paper. He said, "It is good that these players have committed themselves to the club.
"They all made a strong contribution to the campaign and they will be valuable players in the First Division.
"We will be hoping to add one or two players during the summer and it will be probably some weeks before we get things finalised."
