Manager Danny Lennon wants repeat performances in remaining games.
COWDEN boss Danny Lennon was delighted with the way his team shrugged off the disappointment of losing a three goal interval lead at Brechin last midweek by thumping the Angus side on Saturday at Central Park.
He said after the match, "I had never been involved in anything like last Tuesday's game where we had totally bossed the game, scored three great goals and then threw away two points. But in this game we scored some incredibly good goals, oozed quality in every department and made sure the opposition were kept well in check.
"It was really just what the doctor ordered and we need more of that sort of performance in the games that we still have to come."
Striker Paul McQuade admitted that had been struggling to hit the net having gone five league games without scoring. He told the Times after the game, "The lads had been getting on at me in training about missing so many chances so I was delighted to get amongst the goals against Brechin. We played some great football and I was just so relieved to get the opening goal to get back amongst the scorers.
"The second one was just one of those things you try from time to time and it worked perfectly but at the end of the day we had to win the game and that was the number one priority." Paul and fellow striker Gareth Wardlaw have been nominated for the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division Player of the Year award which will be announced on Sunday night. Meanwhile manager Lennon is hoping his team can go to Alloa on Saturday and keep on winning to close the league campaign. He added, "No matter what happens now it has been a great season for us and the performances of the team have exceeded the fans' expectations even although I felt that they had the quality to produce the runs of wins which have pushed us into the promotion area of the table. We have simply just got to keep producing this sort of quality in our remaining fixtures."
Kenny Adamson, who received a thigh knock at Brechin last midweek is still struggling for fitness and Dene Droudge needs an operation on his knee injury but with no other major problems the manager will have a pretty full squad to pick from for this Saturday's last league game.
