Manager Lennon felt his wide had the better chances at Stirling.
IF Cowdenbeath are to stay in the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division title race they will need to win this Saturday when Stenhousemuir visit Central Park.
Cowden slipped up last weekend when they went down to the narrowest of defeats against Stirling Albion at Forthbank.
With leaders Alloa Athletic drawing it was a chance lost to regain lost ground on the Wasps but the Blue Brazil just could not hit the net.
Now Cowdenbeath can afford no more slip-ups if they are to make the pressure tell in the final run-in.
Manager Danny Lennon was a little disappointed to lose by a single goal to Albion. He said, "Like the other matches with Stirling this season it was a very close game with little to choose between the sides and it all hinged on two situations.
"Just after the break a lovely move saw Jon Robertson clean through but he shot just wide and then late on they forced a corner and David Hay's punch lacked power and they took advantage to score.
"In such tight games results can hinge on these sort of circumstances but both lads had good games and we win and lose as a unit."
He added, "We created one or two good chances but just could not get the goal that would have made such a difference to the match."
"It was not a great game really but the conditions were not easy although I felt we definitely had the better chances but did not take any of them."
The result let Albion back into the race themselves and clearly Cowden have to beat Stenny this weekend.
But results elsewhere meant that Stenhousemuir's defeat by Brechin City mean that they need points to be safe from relegation play-off worries.
Manager Lennon added, "We have to go out and try to win as many matches as we can and that will be our aim. Stenhousemuir are no easy opponents but our target is to win."
Cowden are almost certainly assured of a play-off place lying ten points clear of fifth placed Peterhead after Saturday's returns but fans will be hoping that they can get the wins they need to stay in the title hunt.
The Fifers have a full squad to pick from for this weekend's clash with Stenny. Dene Droudge has recovered from his knee problem and midfielder Danny MacKay, who has been out all season, is back in the first team squad.
