Manager Lennon was happier with the second-half showing against Sons.
COWDENBEATH have two important matches coming up over a four day period which could have a big say on how the title race is going to pan out.
The Blue Brazil meet one of their nearest challengers for the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division championship, Stirling Albion, home and away in that period.
On Saturday the Blues are at Forthbank and then on Tuesday Albion visit Central Park in a re-arranged match.
Saturday's round of fixtures emphasised that the title race is between four clubs, Alloa Athletic, Cowdenbeath, Stirling Albion and Brechin City so the two matches between Cowden and Albion are crucial for both teams. Cowden boss Danny Lennon felt that his team had the openings to have won the game against Dumbarton.
He said, "In the first-half I felt that the quality of our delivery into the box was not up to scratch and while we had a lot of the ball the chances created were not that many.
"However, in the second period we really took a grip of the game and there were several really good openings.
"Gareth Wardlaw, John Dempster and Darren McGregor all could have scored but at the same time we had to be alert to stop Dumbarton.
"They surprised us with their long throw expert Martin McNiff who sent some amazing balls into our box from some distance but we kept a grip on them and recorded another shut-out."
The manager is now looking forward to the two games with Stirling and knows what to expect.
He added, "It has been a long month but it has been the same for all the teams and if we could win these two games coming up it could make a big difference to our challenge. It will be hard but we know that we can win them if we play to our strengths."
Kenny Adamson and John Robertson sat out the Dumbarton match but both will be in contention for a place against Albion this weekend.
