COWDENBEATH have back to back home games coming up to complete a run of three Central Park fixtures which could have a big bearing on the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division title chase.
After Tuesday's match with Alloa Athletic, Cowden entertain Dumbarton on Saturday and then Clyde on Tuesday as they try to emphasise their title intentions.
The Blue Brazil had to work hard for their win at Broadwood on Saturday as Clyde, fighting for their lives, tried everything they knew to defy them.
The Blue Brazil had to re-shuffle their defence twice before the hour mark as injuries took out two key men.
Cowden boss Danny Lennon was very pleased with the result and said, "We knew that Clyde would work hard and deny us space and we had to put in plenty of effort to come away with the win.
"The bulk of play was pretty even but it would be fair to say that they had the better chances in the first-half. Also we had to change the defence three times after injuries so it was not easy.
"Big Joe Mbu felt his knee in the warm-up but felt he was OK to play and it started to get tighter after about 20 minutes so we made a change and then Dene Droudge had to come off. However, I thought that we played some good stuff at times and we took our goals well. The defence again did a good job despite having to be changed and that was important in keeping Clyde from posing more problems in the closing minutes."
The result kept the Blues very much involved in the four club title race. Alloa Athletic, Cowden, Stirling Albion and Brechin City will contest the flag over the closing weeks of the season and the Fifers could do with picking up all three points on Saturday when Dumbarton visit Central Park.
Added the manager, "Every game will be difficult between now and the end of the season and this will be typical of what we will face.
"We will simply be taking every game as it comes along and preparing as necessary to get the results we need to keep very much involved."
The Fifers should have forward Scott McBride fit and defenders Joe Mbu and Dene Droudge could make this Saturday while Gareth Wardlaw was nursing muscle tightness earlier in the week. .
Kenny Adamson and Jon Robertson are fit also.
