Manager Danny Lennon was impressed with the team unit against East Fife.
BOTTOM of the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division, Clyde, will hope to stop Cowdenbeath in their tracks this Saturday at Broadwood Stadium.
The Blue Brazil were impressive 6-2 derby winners over East Fife at Central Park and few could have suggested it could not have been more. Cowden put on a very good showing for the 667 fans who were in the stands as they moved the ball about a cut-up parkwith great aplomb which left the visitors chasing shadows at times.
Manager Danny Lennon was impressed by his team's work with 20 year-old Dene Droudge leading from the front with some powerful runs. Said the Cowden boss, "I was proud of the lads the way they dominated the game from virtually start to finish.
"They showed they if you work together in unison you can make life very difficult for opponents and can create a lot of chances.
"The quality of some of our goals was top drawer and I suppose if there was to be a down side to the game from our point of view, it would be that both of the goals conceded could have been prevented."
He added that he was very pleased with Darren McGregor's performance in a central midfield role after the problems the young lad has had with illness and injury this season. He went on, "Darren has had to be patient to get back in the side but I felt that both he and Craig Winter were tremendous contributors on Saturday. Dene Droudge was also a busy player for us sending over a lot of good crosses." Dene told the Times that the manager has been encouraging him to get forward more from his right back position and use the ball better in the last third of the pitch.
He said, "I was able to get forward a lot against East Fife and it certainly was the best I have used the ball in an attacking sense.
"I thought at times the quality of our play was superb and we scored some tremendous goals.
"Our aim is to keep up as near the top of the table as possible and everyone is looking to forward to getting into a run of games after all the postponements."
Clyde drew at the home of Barrs Irn Bru Second Division leaders Alloa on Saturday so will be out to provide Cowdenbeath with problems.
Mr Lennon is hoping that his team can keep up the form of last weekend at Broadwood. He said, "It will be tough for the previous two games we have had with them were very tight but our aim is to return with the three points if we can."
There are no real injury problems for the game and a same again vote of confidence might well follow.
