Manager Danny Lennon was concerned by the defensive work against Peterhead.
COWDENBEATH manager Danny Lennon was concerned by the way his team conceded three goals against a Peterhead side which was seldom in the game on Saturday.
And he is aware that his side will have to perform better at the back when they go to Ochilview to meet Stenhousemuir in the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division this Saturday.
Mr Lennon saw his side dominate possession against Peterhead but end up losing 3-1.
He said, "We had a lot of the ball but at the end of the day its goals that count and we just did not produce the goods.
"To be honest the three goals we conceded were all bad from our point of view.
"The first saw us muscled out of it inside our own box, then we were caught out by a lob which should have been countered, then came the free-kick goal. Certainly injuries have been causing us problems for we have not put the same back four out for weeks.
"However, it is something we will have to sort out quickly if we are to keep putting pressure on the teams at the top end of the table."
Fellow challengers Alloa Athletic picked up another point last Saturday in a draw at Brechin but Stirling Albion were trounced 9-0 in the Scottish Cup by Ross County which could dent their confidence.
So Cowden have to look to win at Stenhousemuir if they are to maintain their position as challengers.
Said Mr Lennon, "All the games are difficult in this division but we have got to get back to working solidly as a team unit.
"We showed in that great eleven game unbeaten run that we could pose all teams in this league problems and we have to look to return to that sort of form".
Centre back Joe Mbu is almost certain to return at Ochilview and Scott McBride now fully signed from Dunfermline Athletic, who missed last weekend's game with a foot injury, will also be ready for action. Also in the squad should be new signing Robert Torrance.
