Cowden must play for 90 minutes against Albion

Manager Danny Lennon was unhappy with his side's second-half performance.

SO a late goal saw the end of Cowdenbeath's proud unbeaten eleven game run in the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division.

Things had looked so good for the Fifers at The Rock on Saturday as they led well into the second-half.

But determined Sons kept probing and grabbed an equaliser 20 minutes into the second period and then grabbed the winner with a minute left.

Cowden had the chances to take something from the game but it simply was not to be.

Manager Danny Lennon was disappointed to lose to such a late strike and criticised his team for losing their way in the game.

He said, "We were worth our half-time lead but completely lost our way in the second-half.

"Maybe some of our players thought the game was over at half-time because in the second-half we started to stop doing the things that had got us into the winning position.. We stop pressing them and they have a few good players in the centre area of the park that can hurt you if they are given time and space and that is exactly what happened."

He added, "It was a very good run and took us to the top of the table. We cannot afford to dwell on Saturday's defeat, we have to get it out of our system and get ready for two testing home games coming up. We will be working hard in training to correct what went wrong in the second period at Dumbarton."

This Saturday second top Stirling Albion come to Central Park and then the following week Peterhead are the visitors.

Clearly the Albion fixture is a big one and the manager is looking forward to it. He said, "Stirling have been consistently picking up wins all season, often with late goals, and are deservedly up at the top end of the table.

"It will be a great game for the fans and to win it we will have play well for the whole 90 minutes".

Kenny Adamson will be free from suspension and will be back in the squad while work will continue on the injured Joe Mbu's groin injury throughout this week. Gareth Wardlaw, who had to go off before the break at Dumbarton after suffering from flu, will be fit and Darren McGregor, who came on as a substitute and came through the test at The Rock, will be competing for a place in the squad.
