THE freezing weather has continued to frustrate Cowdenbeath in their bid to consolidate their position at the top of the Barrs Irn Bru Second Division.
Last weekend's scheduled fixture with Clyde at Central Park was yet another victim of the freeze with the surface still in a frozen state.
The Blue Brazil will now turn their attention to trying to get this week's re-arranged fixture with Arbroath on.
The game was called off on 19th December as the freezing weather started to take a grip of things and with both sides out of the Active Nation Scottish Cup this Saturday was an obvious opportunity to play the game as the sides are both out of the competition. The problem is that the weather continues to be a problem with the freeze reluctant to relaxz its grip.
The pitch is still a long way to go to be playable but there are hopes that milder weather will have a marked effect on it before Saturday.
Manager Danny Lennon is desperate for play this weekend but knows mit is unlikely..
He said, "That is three successive Saturdays that we have had call-offs and the freeze looks like it could account for this Saturday.
"The players are itching to get going but the thing is the weather has put the whole of the division on hold.
"We want to get going again as soon as possible to avoid the backlog of games which we had last season which definitely affected our challenge."
The Red Lichties, under new manager Jim Weir, would come to Central desperate to repeat their 2-1 win of the season's opening game but Cowden will be confident of victory.
