SO one game left in what has been a bitterly disappointing League 2 campaign but when Annan come to Central Park on Saturday the Blues will be going all out for three points.

With the Pyramid Play-offs fast coming up Cowden want to go into it with a good result behind them and really they should not have left Shielfield without something to show for their efforts.

Like almost every game between the teams this season, Berwick managed to get the goal that counted despite spending long periods defending and the stats show that had Cowden shared the 12 points with the Wee Rangers this season they would have being going into the last match looking to win to avoid staring down the barrel of going out of the league structure.

Manager Gary Bollan kept Blair Malcolm and Robbie Buchanan out of the Berwick starting squad as they are very close to another period of suspension and he wants both to face either Spartans or Cove Rangers.

Fraser Mullen will miss this Saturday’s game and the first leg of the play-off after running up 12 booking points and he certainly does not want to lose anyone else.

But while he again will tweak the team for the Annan game the manager still wants to win it.

Said Mr Bollan: “The game at Berwick was like so many this season, where we have been in the match from start to finish but lost a goal and missed a few good chances.

“It was galling not to pick up something from the game but we will look to go into the Annan game with a positive outlook and looking to win it.”

The manager is desperate not to lose key players due to suspension or injury before the first leg of the play-offs but still wants to beat Annan: “It would be good to go into the play-offs with a win behind us and while we may look to use a few more guys that have been out of action recently there is no reason why we cannot get a good result on Saturday.

“We need everyone to have match practice before what will be a highly important two games for the club so that we are ready for any eventualities.

“We have watched both Cove and Spartans so we will be prepared for the task ahead and everyone is fully aware of the importance of this two legged tie.”

Fraser Mullen is definitely out for the Annan game but everyone else is available, although Bryan Gilfillan went off at half-time at Berwick with a strain.
