COWDEN are really well and truly at the business end of the season now with just six games left.

They are still at least three wins away from catching the clubs above them and the target has to be to win the last six matches.

If that was achieved it would almost certainly take them to safety, so when Stenhousemuir come to Central Park this Saturday the aim is to beat them and get one of these wins in the tank.

Berwick Rangers and Edinburgh City are the catchable sides for the Blues but the other element is that if Cowden do have to go into the Pyramid play-offs and they go there with a string of wins against good quality opponents, the confidence levels will be high.

It is a point not lost on manager Gary Bollan who was really pleased with the way his team played in the away games at Stenhousemuir and Stirling Albion which yielded four points.

He said: “These were good performances for at Stenny we started the game really well and were two up at the break but they got one back and then started to ask us a lot of questions, but we defended superbly.

“At Stirling we went a goal down before the break but then came back strongly at them and really finished the game the much likelier lot to grab a winner. Really we should have taken all three points.

“These were games against teams challenging for a top four spot and we matched them so that has to be encouraging.”

He added: “We have to look to win all our games if we can and that will be our target, it won’t be easy but we have been creating some good chances and scoring goals and we have to keep trying to do that.

“Stenhousemuir are looking to hold on to a top four place so they will come a determined lot but we showed last week that we can match them and that is our aim this Saturday.”

The Blues may be without defender Bryan Gilfillan, who had to go off before the interval at Stirling, but skipper Scott Rumsby went on and played solidly.

On loan midfielder from Dunfermline, Brandon Luke, made his first start at Stirling and the manager was happy with what he saw.

Montrose are the visitors to Central Park on Tuesday with a 7.45pm start.
