A TRAINING injury denied Cowdenbeath's Ryan Connelly the chance to play for the Scottish Schools team.
Cowden's young schoolboy star was due to make his international debut for Scotland Schools v Northern Ireland last Friday.
Unfortunately, Beath High pupil Ryan twisted his knee when training with Cowden a couple of days before the match.
The club arranged for a hospital scan and the news was not good - Ryan has a cruciate injury and will now be on the sidelines for some time.
Said manager Gary Bollan: "This is a real blow for Ryan as he missed out on his chance to represent his country and he will also be missing for us in the run-in.
"Everyone at Central Park was upset by the news and we are sure all our fans will wish Ryan all the very best as he seeks to recover from his injury."
The 17 year-old striker has been a regular marksman in the club's Development team and has looked the part in his appearances in Ladbrokes League 2.
