COWDENBEATH'S bid to end their long run without a win has literally been put in cold storage by the Beast from the East.

Their game with Edinburgh City scheduled for Ainslie Park on Saturday was postponed on Thursday afternoon with the pitch under a foot of snow as the Siberian weather has continued to reak havoc.

Cityran out 4-0 winners at home to Elgin City last Saturday as Cowden went down to Peterhead and the Blues have now gone 20 games without a win

The Central Parkers played pretty well against Peterhead but they gave away two poor goals and missed two really good chances.

So it was a case of the same old story which sees the Blues stuck on only 10 points from 25 games, something which is simply an appalling record.

But Cowdenbeath still can catch City, as assistant manager Mark Fotheringham pointed out after Saturday’s match: “I am afraid it was much of what we have seen this season.

“Competing really well and having chances but losing two very poor goals.

“The first was a simple ball into the box but we did not measure up to it and lost the opening goal of the game which is simply a key situation.

“In the second period we created two or three good chances but failed to take them and then in the closing seconds we give the ball away cheaply and are punished.

“We have been trying hard to get the players to really concentrate for 90 minutes so that we do not make the sort of errors that sunk us in this game and give us a chance of winning matches.”

He added: “Having gone so long without a win it has become a real monkey on our back but we have to do our utmost to get that victory that can give us the opportunity to finish the season well.

“The players have shown in matches that they can do well and collect draws but we really need a win.

“If we can win it then it can give us the chance to go on a run and that has to be our target.”

Cowden will have new striker Jordyn Sheerin available for the re-scheduled game with Clyde on Tuesday night at Central Park but already that fixture is looking unlikely to be played with about a foot of snow on the pitch.

Sheerin looked pretty handy against Peterhead without getting a lot of chances and he and David Cox could provide the firepower for Cowden to get that first win in some months.
