FRIDAY’S snow put paid to Cowdenbeath’s chances of a game with Stenhousemuir at Ochilview and it gave Clyde the chance to leap eight points clear of the Blues with an amazing win at leaders Montrose on Saturday.

It was a result Cowden could have done without but manager Gary Bollan wants his team to start stringing their own winning run together to get away from the bottom of Ladbrokes League 2.

Cowdenbeath can start their recovery plan this Saturday when they entertain Berwick Rangers at Central Park.

They have played the Wee Rangers twice this season and the record book shows two wins for the Shielfield men but it has been anything but what they deserved.

In the first game at Central, it was all Cowdenbeath, but somehow Rangers survived home attack after home attack and a goal in one of their rare forays upfield earned them a very fortuitous win.

Then at Berwick a controversial late penalty gave Rangers another 1-0 win, so to say that Cowdenbeath are due something from Saturday’s visitors is putting it mildly.

Mr Bollan has been piecing together his own squad over the past fortnight with four players coming in and all of them will feature in the 18 on duty for Saturday.

David Cox, someone who scored regularly as Forfar Athletic won promotion last season, will be in the front line against Berwick and he is someone the manager feels will score regularly for the Blue Brazil.

He will also have Aiden Malone looking for a front spot and Blair Malcolm, the Ross County midfielder, has signed on for the rest of the season and should be fit for this one.

Said Mr Bollan: “If we can start stringing together results we can get away from the lower reaches of the table, but it is up to us to get the wins we need.

“I feel we have the quality here to turn things around in terms of results and David is someone I know from a couple of clubs, including Forfar, and he can score plenty if the chances are there.

“Berwick will be determined to make things difficult for us but we need to get our own show on the road as soon as possible and that will be the aim on Saturday.

“Getting three points would be a great boost to everyone and a real boost in confidence and that has to be the target.”

Robbie Buchanan will still be suspended, after last weekend’s postponement, but the extra weekend off will have helped Blair Malcolm get fit so it will be a strong squad looking to get the show on the road.
