COWDENBEATH’S players and management will be hoping that the weather is kinder to them this Saturday when they are due to play a very important Ladbrokes League 2 fixture.

Cowden have missed out on the last two Saturdays through frost affecting pitches, but fortunately for them in that time Edinburgh City have picked up only one point from the two matches they have played.

But they are now two ahead of the Blue Brazil, while Clyde, this Saturday’s opponents at Central Park, are five ahead.

Last weekend’s game with Stirling Albion was postponed at the back of 11am, and it was not a big surprise after two nights of hard frost.

It all means that Cowdenbeath’s last serious action was on November 25 and really they must hope that they can get going when the Bully Wee come a visiting on Saturday.

Clyde have managed to somehow creep on to the 12 point mark so a home win for the Blues this weekend would make the gap with them only two and if City lost they would get off the bottom.

It has been a frustrating spell for new Cowdenbeath boss Gary Bollan: “It was again really disappointing to hear that the match at Stirling was postponed because we want to start closing the gap with the other clubs as soon as possible.

“It is something that can happen at this time of year but to have two off in two weeks is really frustrating.”

Mr Bollan managed to fix up a friendly at the Torryglen football centre, in Glasgow, with a Rangers academy side last midweek and it kept everyone in the squad getting some sort of action.

However, he now has to prepare his team for a vastly important two games in five days, this Saturday and on Tuesday, against Clyde and Stenhousemuir respectively.

He added: “Clearly we are going into these matches looking to win both of them and what a difference that could make to our season.

“Apart from the points, the boost to confidence would be massive but we will be taking them one at a time and getting a result against Clyde is top of the agenda.

“We have been working on converting chances into goals and that is key to getting back on the winning trail.”

Having the last two games postponed has meant that David Syme’s suspension period still has one fixture to go so while he will have to sit out the Bully Wee match he will be available for the Stenny visit.

There are no injuries to report apart from long termer, ‘keeper Joe McGovern, and striker Josh Morris.
