COWDENBEATH FC's Sportsman's Dinner on Friday saw former top grade Scottish whistler, Brian McGinley, tell some of the tales of the big games he refereed over many years.

The ref, who was well known for handling really important games at home and abroad, told the big audience at Friday night's event held at Lochgelly Town Hall, that he had some memorable days and nights, and the odd awkward moment too, in the top flight of the game in Scotland and Europe!

He was a very well known name amongst fans of all clubs and he could recall a number of games involving the Blue Brazil!

Brian was backed by popular comedian, Stuart Smith, who was very amusing and Cowden chairman Donald Findlay MC'd the evening in humorous fashion.

The auction saw a host of very good items up for grabs and the Rangers' signed Nine In A Row jersey was purchased by someone from Aberdeen online for a four figure fee.

The auction raised several thousand pounds for Cowdenbeath FC.

Commercial director Malcolm Slora said: "It was a good night with Brian McGinley and Stuart Smith keeping everyone really entertained with their stories.

"The auction went well and we would like to thank all our sponsors, including Bay Travel, for their support."
