AFTER losing a game that could have been won, Cowdenbeath have to pick up the pieces against Ladbrokes League 2 leaders Forfar Athletic this Saturday at Station Park.
Cowden and the Loons have shared 14 goals this season, with Forfar winning home and away in time added on, so the Blues need a change in luck.
But the fact was that they should have won at Montrose, they dominated possession, missed a penalty, but also conceded an own goal and  the winner from the penalty spot.
The loyal Blue Brazil faithful must be wondering when their favourites are going to get the breaks in a game. But having a penalty saved was a real nightmare for them at Links Park and it clearly cost them at least a point.
They are still two points adrift at the bottom and they have two games coming up against top three sides, Forfar and Elgin City, which will be tough tasks. Cowden boss Liam Fox was so bitterly disappointed to lose at Links Park: “We came back well from losing the own goal and had the chance to level from the spot only a few minutes into the second-half, but Kris’s shot was saved. However, we kept going and deservedly levelled with five minutes left and then concede a penalty, which was in the dubious category, and it is converted.
“We had the opportunities to go on and win that game, which made it all so really frustrating. But the fact was that the lads gave their all, played well and yet came away with nothing, they deserved better.”
Looking ahead to the Forfar game: “We really need to get a result at Station Park so hopefully maybe we get the late break this time.”
The manager hopes to have two more new names in the squad for Forfar with space created by four departures.
Edinburgh City and Berwick are still only two in front but Cowden dearly need to start pulling off a few results which are in the coupon buster range to get back in touch with the teams in the middle pack of clubs.
