Golden show from Beath athletes

BEATH High School pupils produced some golden performances at the Fife Schools' Track and Field Championships.

Indeed, athletes from the Cowdenbeath school came home with eight golds, eight silver and eight bronze medals.

S4 pupil, Jack Lawrie, won two gold medals in the boys' 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles, while Kerrie McLeod from S5, also had double success winning the girls' 100m and high jump titles.

Other golden pupils were Rachel Easton (S4) in the 300m; Connor-Lee Edwards (S5) in the discus and Kris Carnegie (S4) in the javelin.

Silvers were won by the boys' relay team of Declan Brennan (S4), Mark Travers (S5) , Connor-Lee Edwards (S5), and Jack Lawrie, while Declan was also a silver winner in the 100m.

Ross Carruthers (S6) won two silvers in the long jump and javelin and Kerrie McLeod (S5) had the same reward in the shot putt.

Bronze went to Euan Ross (S1) in the shot putt, Amy Simpson (S2) in the javelin and discus, Sarah Jane Easton (S3) in the 80m hurdles, Meghan Roy (S5) in the javelin and shot putt, George Calder (S6) in the 200m, Ross Carruthers (S6) in the javelin, and Jack Munro (S3) in the 100m hurdles.

Jack Lawrie also won the FSAA Trophy for his success in the 100m hurdles.
