A LOCHGELLY seven year-old has had an amazing year on the race track.
Aaron Swan has only been racing quad bikes for two years but in 2009 he collected four championships.
Along with brother Jamie he has really made an impact at the Cardenden based Fife Community Offroad Motorcycle Club
Aaron is a pupil of Lochgelly West Primary School. He started racing two years ago in the 50cc standard class.
He started attending race meetings to watch his older brother, Jamie in action.
Aaron's first year's racing gave him a good foundation for his sport. For Christmas 2008 he got a new machine for the 2009 season which started with three wins in the 1st Round of the Scottish and Quad Racing Scotland Championships.
His British championship again got off to a flyer with him taking full points at Dun, in the Scottish Borders. His season continued racking up race wins and only dropping a few points along the way.
He has raced from Cardenden in Fife to Inverness in the North and Culham, Oxford in the South. Aaron also won the Fife Community Offroad Motorcycle Club Championship which is based in Cardenden and the facility is his local practice track.
Aaron loves attending the race meetings where he meets up with his racing friends to have fun on the Saturday evening, and then races against them on the Sunday.
Aaron will move up a class next year and will be competing in the 50cc Modified Class on his new Cobra quad. Our picture bottom left shows Aaron in action and right with his trophies from this season.
Jamie is 13 years old and is a pupil of Lochgelly High School and has been racing since he was nine years-old.
His first race machine was a Yamaha 80cc and now he has progressed to a Yamaha 250cc bike. During his racing career he has finished in the top three in various championships including a second place finish in the 2008 British Championship. He also received the Quad Racing Scotland Youth Star rider award in 2007.
Unfortunately Jamie was involved in an accident early in this year's season which saw him lose his lead in the Scottish and Quad Racing Scotland Championship. Jamie did, however, win the Fife Community Offroad Motorcycle Championship for 2009. Jamie will continue to race in the 250cc Standard class in the 2010 Season.
At race meetings the boys are known as Swan Brothers Race Team. They receive great backing from parents Gina and James.
Said James, "The pair really get a lot of fun out of the racing and the weekend events around the country are a bit of a family outing.
"Aaron has had a remarkable year and is looking for ward to 2010." The boys would like to thank Paul from Fife Autotech in Lochgelly for his continued support to them in 2009 and to Leon Beda, Coaltown of Balgonie who gives training and racing support.
In 2009 Aaron was British 50cc Standard Champion; Scottish 50cc Standard Champion; Quad Racing Scotland 50cc Standard Champion; and Fife Community Offroad Motorcycle Club Champion and Club Champion
Jamie's return was British 250cc Standard 5th Place; Scottish 250cc Standard 3rd Place; Quad Racing Scotland 250cc Standard 3rd Place; Fife Community Offroad Motorcycle Club Champion.

It's good that the boys have won what they've won...but maybe you could do a piece on why their dad has spent the last four years making his neighbours lives a misery during the racing season by repeatedly revving his bikes up, sometimes all day until 9-10 o'clock at night? I live in the street behind him and the noise annoys me-I'd hate to think what it must be like for his immediate neighbours-it must be horrendous!!!

Well said kjfhds! Shame 'Quite Life' can't make themselves known instead of hiding, why didn't she/he not come and complain to us instead of telephoning the police anonymously!!!! The revving of these bikes is only as loud as a petrol lawnmover.
