Upon hearing this, Darren Leitch, dad of one of the players (Nathan Leitch) thought Lochgelly youth set-up, LKB United, were just what they were looking for.

The competition consisted of writing a small homage to why they deserved such an honour in 100 words or less.

Initially this proved harder than he thought as the first draft was touching on 200 words. After several hours of tweaking he finally cracked it with the following submitted : “'LKB United, Lochgelly, Fife. The 2002’s recently reformed and gelling well together in preparation for the 11 a-side game starting in July. 22 registered players that are dedicated to teamwork.

"The coaches, second to none and give up their time three times a week, one travelling 100 miles-plus from his place of work in Aberdeen, costing £50 per trip.

"Seeing them run onto the park on the first 11-a-side match, gleaming new kits, blazing the Eastern Western Motor Group logo, proud smiles on their faces, I could look around and see this mirrored in the faces of the parents.'” Out of the many entries submitted, this was the winning entry and was chosen by Stuart Macphail (manager) of the Western Toyota, Halbeath. The kit was then ordered through ACA Sports, Kirkcaldy.

Darren chose a stunning red and white combination to compliment the sponsor and logo. Once completed this was proudly presented by Boogie from the Forth 1 breakfast show last month at the Toyota showroom.

The kids love the kit, one apparently said, “This is real quality” and another asked Stuart, “Do we get new cars as well when we turn 17?” All in all LKB can’t thank Western Motor group enough for their support within the local communities and hope that their partnership continues for many year to come.
