COWDENBEATH para-bowler Billy Allan will compete for a place in the final of the Commonwealth Games tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Cowdenbeath Bowling Club member, along with skip Kevin Wallace and Michael Simpson, strolled into the semi-finals of the B6/B7/B8 Open Triples earlier today (Tuesday) after a convincing 16-8 win over the Welsh rink in their second match of the competition at Kelvingrove.

That victory, coupled with a crushing 25-8 victory over Malaysia on Monday, comfortably sent the Scots into the last four and they will face England at 3.45pm this afternoon to decide who would finish top of the section.

Meanwhile, Cowdenbeath swimmer Kathryn Johnstone will compete in her final event of a memorable six days in the pool tonight when she goes in the women's 4x100 medley for Scotland. The race, the penultimate event of the swimming competition, is due to start at 9.02pm and further details on Billy's bid for gold and Kathryn's Games will feature in tomorrow's Times.
