On Saturday George Beattie, Davie McKay, Lindsay Black and Derek Easson played in the Alex Syme West Fife Senior fours final at Nethertown, Dunfermline, against a good Dalgety Bay rink. They picked up a four and a five at the first two ends and led 12-1 after five. Derek played some wonderful bowls under pressure towards the end when Dalgety Bay were closing the gap, cutting two counts against to a single and a two.
Cowdenbeath ran out 17-14 winners, with a good team performance to bring the trophy back to Cowdenbeath for the first time in the 16 years since the trophy was donated by the Association in recognition of Alex Syme’s many years representing West Fife in County games.
