THE 2015 Sportshall run, jump and throws competition, organised by Scottish Disability Sport and Scottish Athletics, was held at Grangemouth Sport Centre when competitors from Lochgelly High School were prominent.

Disability Sport Fife fielded two teams this year for the first time because of increased interest in disability athletics across Fife.

Between 50 and 60 athletes with a physical, sensory or learning disability attend DSF weekly sessions and many of the junior members have prepared over the winter for the Sportshall event.

Fife won the national team title in 2014 for the first time and hopes were high for a defence of the title in 2015. Only five points separated the leading two teams after a full day of activities and the Fife athletes had to settle this year for a brilliant runners-up spot.

The Fife B team finished in 7th place with a team of 7 athletes, three short of the maximum.

Team managers Pamela Robson (Balwearie HS), Fiona Stewart (Bell Baxter HS) and Brian Sim (Lochgelly HS), were extremely complimentary about the attitude and commitment of all the young Fife athletes.

The Fife Team consisted of Fraser Wilson (Lochgelly HS), Marie Wilson (Lochgelly HS), Alex Evans (Balwearie HS), Dylan Fotheringham (Balwearie HS), Liam Downie (Balwearie HS), Robbie Simpson (Glenrothes), Steven McCormick (Viewforth HS ), Callum Sloan (McLean Primary), Cameron Adam (Canmore Primary,) Abbie Steggles (Dunfermline HS), Dean Bruce (Bell Baxter HS), Sam Fernando (Bell Baxter HS), Shakeel Ul-haq (Lochgelly HS) Louise Harley (Lochgelly HS),Gary Fraser (Lochgelly HS) Stuart Taylor (Balwearie HS), Brandon Eason (Balwearie HS), Kieran McDonnell (Balwearie HS) and Lewis Moyes (Bell Baxter HS).
