WITH the stock car season not that far adrift the first of the practice meetings was staged at the Cowdenbeath Racewall on a dry and sunny Sunday afternoon at the weekend.

The track was basically dry but greasy initially and as the racing continued it began to dry out and as a result there were some quick laps from the drivers.

The pits are under construction at present and should have the tarmac laid in time for the start to the season- weather permitting!

The new Fife Engine Services pace car was on show for the first time and looking rather smart in its black livery and startling sign writing.

There was a bit of a drama when a saloon clattered off the wall and as it ran across the track it was hit. There was a fire in the back lane which was quickly extinguished. A couple of formula IIs tangled but both managed to survive although one had a damaged carburettor.

There were quite a few formula II drivers at the track including local driver Gregor Turner (Dunfermline).

Despite losing a wheel at the end of the opening heat Turner had a good session and at the end of it was reasonably happy with the car’s set up and performance.

Newcomers were Jason and Adam Blacklock (Forth) and Colin Thomson (Carluke) whilst Marc Fortune (Edinburgh) and Stevie Forster (Carluke) debuted their new cars.

This Sunday the BriSCA formula IIs, 2 litre National saloons, minis and microF2s are practicing with the session running from 1.00pm to 4.00pm.
