DARREN Leitch, who was making his third consecutive final appearance in the G B Sinclair Trophy for members who have not previously won a single hand competition at Cowdenbeath Bowling Club, played against past president, Archie Somerville in this year’s final. The game got off to a slow start, with both players struggling to find a length. However, in a thirty one end marathon, which had scores level at various times up to 15-15, the players basically traded single shots from then on till Archie eventually won 21-19. This was Archie’s first singles win.
Margaret Heenan, managed to win the ladies President’s Trophy for the first time, beating Mary McKay in the final on the same day by 21-18. Club President Mick Heenan, Margaret’s husband, was quoted as saying, “Margaret cannot keep the smile off her face and is very proud. It’s good to have a winner in the household
