COWDENBEATH’S youngsters went down to a second successive Development League defeat at Central Park last Tuesday evening, writes Andy Mullen.

Things started brightly enough when Wasps defender Kieran COLEMAN headed a cross into his own net in 25 minutes and two minutes later Liam Callaghan (pictured) saw a 20 yard free-kick crash off the visitors’ crossbar.

However, with 33 minutes gone Scott HYND levelled for the Wasps, shooting past Thomas Flynn from seven yards. HYND then got what proved to be the winner with 61 minutes gone. A lob by Nathan Moore came off the bar and the front man followed up to slot home the rebound.

Ten minutes later Hynd had a good opportunity to increase the visitors lead when sub ‘keeper Jamie Sneddon blocked a Moore effort but he sent the rebound wide of goal.

Cowden had a number of chances to level in the closing stages with keeper Mikey Couser denying both Callaghan and Dan Jurisic before he pulled off a fine double save from Thomas O’Brien and Pat Scullion, in the last minute.
