THE championship final at Broad Street Bowling Club was played last Wednesday between the brothers Watson, Craig and James.

The result was a win for the older brother James by 21 shots to 17, and as the score suggests, it was a very good game.

Indeed, they were tied at 17 shots each at one stage and it was only in the closing stages that James took over.

On Saturday four rinks travelled to Abbeyview for the annual friendly, and after a day filled with fun and good bowling, Abbeyview came out on top by 63 shots to 52 and a great day was had by all.

The final of the club championship at Cowdenbeath BC was played on Friday between Lindsay Black and defending champion Alan Leishman. It proved to be one of the best quality finals in many a long day. Both players were playing to a high standard with lots of close heads. They were level at 2, 4, 6 and 7, then Lindsay took a 14-8 lead after playing a few very good conversion shots. Alan came back into the game to 14-13. Lindsay played some excellent bowls to take a 19-16 lead. Alan the played some very important bowls and Lindsay had a few chances to win the game at 19-17 and 19-18 and 19-19, but Alan held on to the shot. The last end was won when Alan threw four bowls within 15 inches and Lindsay’s last bowl, which disturbed the head with two feet of running, failed to save the game. Alan is going through some health issues at present so it was a very popular win in a game which could have gone either way.
