THE Lochgelly All Stars were at the the Emirates Arena, in Glasgow, to take part in the first ever national tournament organised by Shell Twilight Basketball.

Thirty teams travelled from across Scotland to take part in under 13, under 16 and under 21 categories, after the highly successful sessions held at Lochgelly High School community use. Lochgelly All Stars entered under 13 and under 16 teams and had two players in the under 21 wildcard team. The under 13 team (pictured) narrowly lost in the final to Whitehill Twilight (Glasgow) by 5 points, 14 – 9 was the final score Throughout the day there was also educational inputs from St Andrews First Aid, the NHS on the dangers of smoking,  Glasgow Council on Alcohol and dangers of party drugs; and Education Through Cashback (ETC) on conflict resolution. At the tournament, three rising star awards were awarded to participants who had been nominated by their coaches for showing hard work, positive behaviour, enthusiasm, good team work and positive attitude and Lochgelly All Star’s Joel Robertson received one of these awards!

Shell Twilight Basketball is aimed at 11 to 21 year-olds and is delivered by qualified coaches and youth workers who provide a variety of content suitable to the participants.

Every session contains high energy basketball coaching which is designed to ensure that first and foremost the participants enjoy their time and have a positive experience of physical activity.

The Glasgow Rocks Professional Basketball Team play a vital role within the delivery of the programmes with the professional players making regular appearances where they bring their basketball skills, life stories, advice and energy to inspire young people.
