IT was the turn of Cowdenbeath Primary School, in the Beath cluster, to compete for the Cowdenbeath World War 2 Memorial Shield this year.

The flat races were held at Alex Venters Park, when P7 girls ran first with the fastest three being Morgan Schiavone, Rachel McIntyre and Kelsey McGraw. The boys ran next and the three finalists were Dylan Thomson, Aidan O’Donnell and Shakeel Ul Haq. These pupils then ran again altogether with the winner, Dylan Thomson, being presented with his personal shield and the Veterans Shield at the end of the race. When asked about his success Dylan remarked “I didn’t know that I could run that fast!”
