Andy Roberts fires Haws ahead.

SATURDAY was not a good day for the local junior sides as only three of them managed to record victories.

In the East Super League Hill of Beath Hawthorn produced the result of the day with a crushing win over Boness United and the other winners were Dundonald Bluebell and Lochgelly Albert.

Hill of Beath Hawthorn 3, Boness United 0.

THIS was a crucial game for Haws as they went about getting their league programme back on track at Keir's Park.

The home side dominated the first period and created several good chances. From one of them Michael Stewart saw his piledriver finger tipped overy by the United 'keeper and there were other close things without the final touch being applied.

Then with seconds to go to the break Darren Wright hooked the ball back into the Boness box where Andy Roberts provided the final touch from close in.

The second period saw Haws dominate possession again and a fine Michael Stewart corner saw Roberts fire home a fierce header.

Boness were in trouble now and they had to work hard to keep the bouyant Haws out and they were lucky to see a John McCulloch shot from a free-kick hit a post and stay out.

But with five minutes left Calum Adamson went clean through and beat the last defender before shooting through the 'keeper's legs to ensure victory.

Kelty Hearts 1, Bonnyrigg Rose 4.

A POOR performance from Kelty Hearts after a good run of results and they finished a well beaten side.

Hearts were particularly ineffective in the first period and they were soon a goal down and struggling defensively.

A second goal before the break put Rose in charge and while Thomas O'Brien pulled one back in 65 minutes Kevin Webster's red card did not help the home cause, although it seemed a harsh decision after a tough tackle.

Kelty's ten men were still looking for a point but a third goal late in the game put things beyond the hosts. A fourth goal completed the Kelty woes.

Carnoustie Panmure 1, Ballingry Rovers 0.

BALLINGRY Rovers came very close to getting a point from this East Premier League game on Tayside.

Carnoustie are a well organised side and the opening stages were very tight with neither team dominating for any length of time.

There were chances for Rovers to maybe get their noses in front but at the break both defences remained in charge.

The second period was much the same story with few clear cut openings but the decisive moment came in 70 minutes.

A pass forward seemed to catch the Panmure player in an off-side position but the flag stayed down and the hosts took advantage to get their noses in front.

Ballingry kept working hard but they just could not get the goal some of their outfield work deserved.

Dundonald Bluebell 3, Crossgates Primrose 0.

DUNDONALD were always in charge of this Central League game as the Moorsiders strengthened their title challenge.

The hosts swarmed all over the Primrose defence and in 15 minutes they took the lead when Davie Balfour fired an angled shot into the net.

Three minutes later it was 2-0 when Derek Wallace beat the 'keeper from close in and there could have been more before the interval.

There was a blow for the home side early in the second-half when Sam Linton was sent-off for a second yellow card but it did not disrupt Dundonald's flowing football.

There was a scare for the home side when Primrose were awarded a penalty but Bluebell last line Ian Rann came to the rescue with a good save from the spot-kick.

And Bluebell capitalised on this with five minutes left when Wallace ran clean through and after his first shot hit the post he followed up to net the rebound.

Lochgelly Albert 6, Scone Thistle 3.

LOCHGELLY Albert got back on the winning track with this convincing Central League success at Gardiner's Park.

Scone took a shock lead in ten minutes but Albert rolled their sleeves up and soon were dominating possession and when Colin Jeffrey was hauled down in the box Andy Barratt converted from the spot.

Lochgelly continued to have the better of things and just before the break Jeffrey went solo and rounded the 'keeper before shooting his side ahead.

Straight from the re-start after the break Stevie Brown made it 3-1 but Scone pulled one back soon after from a penalty award.

But Brown soon made it 4-2 although an own goal from Barratt kept Scone interested. But a looping Brown header made the margin two goals again and a cracking 50 yard Barratt shot wrapped things up for Albert late on.
