HILL of Beath Hawthorn are the area's last Scottish Emirates Junior Cup survivors after Saturday's ties.
Haws at last played their third round tie with East Kilbride Thistle while Ballingry Rovers went to Lochee United in the fourth round and came so close to providing a shock result. Haws will now host big guns Arthurlie in the fourth round at Keir's Park this weekend, weather permitting.
Hill of Beath Hawthorn 3, East Kilbride Thistle 0.
THIS tie was switched to Keir's Park in a bid to get it played after a string of postponements and Haws produced a good performance to progress to the next round.
Hill of Beath opened the tie well and grabbed the lead in ten minutes. Andy Roberts' fierce volley was parried by the 'keeper and Lee Dair raced in to fire into the net.
Haws had Thistle in trouble and there were a number of near things with Barry Smith going close with a header and Roberts being denied by the 'keeper.
The second goal had to come and before the interval Roberts' shot was blocked and Ally Gray pounced to shoot home from close in.
The visitors opened the second period brightly and were awarded a penalty but the award was fired wide and Haws responded by hitting number three through a well placed Smith shot.
Hill of Beath were in control and in the closing stages Roberts and Stephen Bathgate went close to a fourth.
Haws boss Jock Finlayson was delighted to get back into action after a ten week break through the weather. He said, "We played pretty well considering the lack of action in recent weeks and after we got the early goal we settled to dominate possession and create some good chances.
"We can now look forward to a big tie in round four with Arthurlie."
Lochee United 2, Ballingry Rovers 0.
SUPER Leaguers Lochee United found East Premier League opponents Ballingry Rovers difficult opponents in this Emirates fourth round tie on Tayside.
Indeed, Ballingry had the better of the opening stages and Craig Smart came close to putting the visitors ahead.
Lochee gradually started to win more possession in midfield and in 35 minutes they struck to take the lead.
The second period saw Rovers have some really good spells and Smart and Brian Roberts came very close to levelling the tie.
But things hinged on a 65th minute penalty decision which saw the linesman recommend a penalty after what appeared to be a fair tackle.
The hosts gleefully banged the spot-kick home but Rovers were not finished and Smart and Shaun Graham were unlucky in front of goal.
Rovers manager Archie Wyse was proud of his side, "There were periods of the match where we were the better side but we could just not convert the chances that came our way. Things hinged on the penalty decision."
Kelty Hearts 2, Musselburgh 0.
KELTY Hearts got their first East Super League win of the season at Central Park and could have won by a greater margin.
Hearts opened the game well on a heavy surface and took the lead in 14 minutes when Tom McGeorge latched onto a good cross and his 16 yard volley gave the 'keeper no chance.
Musselburgh were struggling to pose kelty many problems and the home team stretched their lead seven minutes from the break.
Craig Morrison produced a clever piece of finishing after good build up work by Hearts.
The second-half saw Kelty completely in charge and Morrison saw an effort come back off the bar and then hit the side net while McGeorge also went close to stretching the lead.
The win took Hearts clear of the bottom of the table.
Dundonald B'bell 4, Scone Thistle 0.
THIS comfortable Central League win at Moorside kept up Dundonald Bluebell's challenge at the top end of the table.
Bluebell came out of the traps fast and had Scone under early pressure and they were only denied by some excellent goalkeeping by the visiting last line.
The breakthrough came in 20 minutes when Graham Mills shot home from just inside the box then eight minutes later they grabbed number two when Wayne Wright converted after being set up by Martyn Thomson.
Scone came out for the second period looking more determined and went close in 46 minutes and then produced more problems for Dundonald but the hosts survived these and in 70 minutes got the vital third.
Stuart Luke created the chance with a lovely cross and Thomson bulleted his header wide of the 'keeper.
Dundonald finished the game strongly and got number four when Derek Wallace's shot was blocked by the 'keeper and Davie Blackwood followed up to score.
Lochgelly Albert 2, Steelend Victoria 3.
A LAST minute goal saw Lochgelly Albert plunge to defeat at the hands' of Steelend at very soft Gardiner's Park.
Steelend made a good start and scored in five minutes but Albert did not panic and worked some decent openings and from one of them Stevie Brown levelled after quarter of an hour.
That was the break score and in the second-half there was little between the sides but in the 70th minute Steelend went back in front.
Lochgelly did not take long to level when Andy McFarlane's shot was deflected in by Andy Barratt and it set up a great finish.
Both teams had chances but it looked odds on a draw when Steelend struck with only seconds left to take the points and leave Albert shocked.
Crossgates Primrose 0, Jeanfield Swifts 1.
SECOND top of the Central League Swifts managed to take all three points but it was somewhat undeserved.
Primrose saw plenty of the ball and posed plenty of problems for Jeanfield in the early stages but they could not get the breakthrough.
Swifts managed to grab the lead in the 28th minute and held the advantage to the interval.
In the second period Crossgates created several decent openings but having not played for several weeks, their finishing was rusty and the Perthshire side managed to hold out for the win.
