FOLLOWING a week of no on-track action; HRP Lochgelly Raceway will burst back into life this weekend with two fantastic events as part of three days of racing in Fife, writes Les Waller, our Raceway reporter!

Friday June 24th sees the latest Friday Nights Under the Lights event featuring the 1300 Stock Cars, Ministox, CC Rods and Ninja Karts.

Scotland’s top stock car formula, the HRP 1300 Stock Cars, are back in action for the first time since their bruising European Championship Weekend (In Support of St Andrews Hospice) which saw England’s Ian Beaumont take home the big prize but the local drivers were right in the mix with the likes of Ryan McGill, Jason Secker, Lee McGill and Eddie Corr all picking up some good results along the way.

Outgoing National Points Champion Zak Gilmour finally got his Tigra B on the pace after months of gremlins and could be one to watch!

Youth will be to the fore this Friday night as we host our two Junior formulas in the shape of the Ninja Karts and the Ministox.

The 6-11 year olds in their Ninja Karts have been in great form this year and we are proud to boast both the European Champion (Declan Honeyman) and the British Champion (Charlie Hardie) in our ranks. These two drivers plus the likes of Robbie Armit and Ethan Doull will be challenging for wins but keep an eye on Jay Paterson who scored a whites and yellows win plus a heat victory last time out.

The 11-16 year olds will also be on hand in the Ministox. Ciaran Adams will be back in his newer car most likely after a spectacular rollover last time here while Euan Millar and Steven Burgoyne will resume their personal battle. Keep an eye on the likes of Terri Linden and Gary Paterson who have impressed this year as they climb the grades.

The final formula on show may be a new one to many weekend visitors as HRP’s CC Rods complete the line-up.

Sunday June 26 will see another huge international event at HRP Lochgelly Raceway as the mighty BriSCA F1 Stock Cars make only their second appearance at Scotland’s most-modern short oval motorsports facility.

With World Champion Rob Speak leading the entry plus the likes of British Champion Frankie Wainman Jr, Matt Newson, Craig Finnikin and Stuart Smith all heading north as part of an entry of almost forty cars; it promises to be an unmissable event.

The F1 Stock Cars will be joined on their visit north by the incredible National Ministox. Arguably the top junior formula in England, the Ministox have produced some of the best racing action seen in recent months and another large entry will be taking to the HRP Lochgelly Raceway tarmac this Sunday. Led by National Champion Courtney Witts, another huge entry is expected and should put on a fantastic show in what is their second appearance in two years.

All in all, a cracking weekend is in prospect at HRP Lochgelly Raceway with some great domestic action plus the lure of an all too rare visit from some of the UK’s premier formulas. The action gets underway at 6:30pm on Friday and 12:30pm on Sunday.
