Hat night winners were husband and wife team of Linda and Davie Duff. Chocolate enjoyed in that household on Tuesday!

The West Fife League campaign took another blow on Wednesday at Dunfermline Northern.

They played the better bowls and certainly used local knowledge to win on all three rinks to win 7 points to 0 and 53-26 up. Need to do better but still in the mix.

The result of the recently played National Playing Fields was announced and Cowdenbeath were runners-up in the west Fife area to Bowhill who had two rinks up plus 27 shots. Cowdenbeath were 23 up. The overall McRoberts Trophy was won by Kennoway on two rinks up plus 34 shots.

Saturday saw the West Fife Bowling Association finals take place at Cowdenbeath Bowling Club. President Lindsay Black welcomed President Alan Bernard to the club and handed over the facilities. Nine clubs were represented and there were a lot of supporters present on a beautiful day.

Members and committee had put in a lot of work and the place looked great and the pace of the green was good.

The Husband Trophy for the singles was won by Craig Watson in a one sided affair against David Yorkston, who did not catch the green and did not play as well as he had in previous rounds.

The Gardiner Pairs was between Bobby Strachan and Liam Finlayson, from Kelty, and youngsters Lyle Robertson and Daniel Martin from Dunfermline Northern.

It was a close game for the first seven or eight ends then Daniel played into a couple of heads when he was down and converted to get shots. They went on to win 17-7.

The Scotcastle triples was played between Kenny Watson, Andy Nelson and Jim Crawford from Broad Street and Lewis and Grant Dunlop skipped by Andy McGeorge from Dalgety Bay.

Broad Street played rink one very well concentrating on the swinging hand and ran out easy winners. The under twenty five singles was contested by two of the best youngsters in the area, brothers Connor and Dylan Robertson from Abbeyview.

Connor caught it early and raced ahead till Dylan took the mat for a walk up the green and played short ends and got back into it but Connor ran pout 21-16 winner in one of the best games on the green.

The senior fours was between Dunfermline Nethertown's rink skipped by Davie McIntyre and Tom Pearson's rink from Dalgety Bay. Dalgety Bay got off to the better start and raced about ten shots up. Davie McIntyre played a few conversion shots to get back to within four with four to go then failed to score again giving 'The Bay' the Alex Syme senior fours trophy.

Cowdenbeath were hoping to win the Peace Trophy rinks competition for the third year running.

Eric McMillan (in as a substitute for Alan Leishman through ill health), Peter Graham, Andy Johnstone and Robert McFarlane got a favourable draw on their own green on six.

Alan Bowers' Lochgelly rink, with a substitute lead in for Alex Glasgow, Mick Connelly and Alan Scott, played the better bowls on the day to win with an end to go.

Bowers pointed out one 'peach' when he was five shots down and he drew the shot. A big bowl when the scores were close.

Overall the standard of bowls was what you would expect in County finals and a good advert for bowls.

On Sunday, the mixed competition was won by Ina Young, Kevin Keir and Brian Simpson, who will represent the club in the Dunfermline District mixed rink competition next month with Charlotte Sommerville brought into the rink. Well done to all!
