Cowdenbeath 0, Dundee 1.

Friendly

Attendance-478

MONDAY night’s friendly at Central Park saw Cowdenbeath up against SPL opposition and for long spells the Blue Brazil had to work hard to stay in the game.

However, they had chances themselves and Kris Renton came close twice as did Jordyn Sheerin.

Overall it was a difficult game for the Blues against a team which included several new Dee signings.

In two minutes Jesse Curran made a slack pass which Robbie Buchanan stopped on the edge of the Dundee box but he delayed his shot and the ball was cleared by Karl Madianga.

Then in 10 minutes Kris Renton set up Blair Malcolm and his 18 yarder was held by Jack Hamilton.

Dundee made a couple of good raids without getting a shot away then a Fraser Mullen cross found Renton and his eight yard shot was brilliantly stopped by Hamilton, then in 24 minutes Elton Ngawatia’s fine 20 yarder was well saved by Ryan Goodfellow.

The ‘keeper saved well from Randy Wolters' low drive from just outside the box but on the interval whistle a Mullen corner was perfect Pyper but he made a hash of his header and the ball went wide.

Dundee were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box in 52 minutes after a rash home tackle on Wolters but the striker dragged his shot wide.

However, in 53 minutes at the other end Sheerin and Renton combined and the latter fired just over from close in.

Then two minutes later Goodfellow made a fine save from Wolters as the Dundee side tried hard to get in front.

Then in 62 minutes some slack work at the back by a changed Dundee defence saw Renton only defied by a fine save from sub ‘keeper Elliott Parrish.

Dundee got the winner with 18 minutes left when a long kick-out by Parrish was gathered by Matt HENVEY and he cleverly lobbed Goodfellow from 20 yards.
